When I/you said that. You/me lied.

So it has come to my attention that my unorthodox optimism in humanity has once again fallen upon a deep realization of truth about mankind. The word humanity implies a sense of compassion and an underlying foundation of the gold rule. YET, it appears that more often than not that we feel the need to undermine our core, lie, cheat, and steal parts of people that make them wonderful and great. Why? Is it because we are afraid of people, of our actions?

I guess in this rant what I want to say is that, if we are created in the image of God, and by definition, we are thus created to stand in place of God while he is in Heaven. Created to take care of his creatures, and act in benevolence, compassion, and as a protector, ensuring their growth and happiness of everything and everyone on Earth. This is why I love the Old Testament, and the book of Genesis. In that one book we can find out why we are here and what this is all about. I also enjoy how is brought up again in further detail in Galations 5:6 "The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." And that is my motto. But after today I realize that I need to work on it more. I seem to have fallen away from it.

As a side note to everything, I must say that right now I am totally enjoying a great cup of coffee provided by the lovely and wonderful Starbucks. And soon I will be headed to Dan’s house to drop off a phone and head to a concert, then Seattle with friends. While you read this, remember don't do anything you wouldn't be willing to tell people about. And don't try to lie. The truth always comes out one way or another, and if you are honest it usually works out a lot better. =)
